Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the league title last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. During an extensive chat, he shared with his interviewer: “I declared I won't manage any other side in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“I’m 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations would need to occur to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, yet sharing a meal with the players enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly for his successor, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league last term. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern over the club, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences for the team. Jota was killed in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the team environment without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad also. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is not easy. Unbearable.”
