Trump Organization Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity increased its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the identical, a report released Thursday claimed.

According to data from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization sought to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever submitted by the organization, and up from over 120 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to bring in over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on immigration laws by his administration that has included the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the Trump Organization aimed to hire over 560 overseas workers over the five years the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during the upcoming year.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this week for comments defending the need for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a country is entering, going to spend $10bn to build a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers lower the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
